Some Blogging Terms and Tips
Hello! My name is Rusty Solomon and I am here to provide you with important information that can help you become a successful blogger.

Bloggers need to understand the different features and functions of blogging software, including WordPress. There is certain terminology that bloggers need to be familiar with. This Rusty Solomon SEO Blog can help you understand the terminology and provide tips to help you with blogging.
The following terms are important to understand in relation to blogs:
Archives:
Bloggers often spend significant amounts of time to create interesting blogs; therefore, most bloggers want to save their older content, along with the current blog. Archives are a way to preserve all of your blogs or just certain ones that you wish to save. Archives can be date-based, such as weekly, monthly, and quarterly. Archives can also be category-based, displaying articles relating to specific topics. Posts can be archived alphabetically or by author. There are many possibilities when it comes to how blogs can be archived.
Some blogging software such as WordPress and Blogger already has preinstalled archiving tools. Archived blogs are automatically available to readers of your blogs with this software.
There are at least two methods in which archiving can be accomplished if you only need the archived data available to you, and not your readers. Archived space can be purchased online with companies such as Carbonite Pro and Mozy. You could also archive your blog via email; this can easily be done by copying and pasting blog entries into a new email to your own email address. For example, if Rusty Solomon had an email address of rsolomon@gmail.com, he would send email to himself, Rusty Solomon, with the blog content in the body of the email. The recipient and sender could both be rsolomon@gmail.com. You can also create a folder within your email to store the archives.
Feeds:
There is special software that includes a unique function called a feed that allows subscribers to the feed to access a website automatically when searching for new content; the feed can post updates about the new content to other websites.
Feeds commonly deliver webpage content (HTML) or links to websites and digital media. Feeds are a very efficient and convenient way of notifying users of updates to small or large numbers of websites and updated content. You can subscribe to the Rusty Solomon feed here.
Blogrolls:
A blogroll is a list, sometimes categorized, of links to other blogs that a blogger finds relevant or interesting. The blogroll is often included in the side bar of the blog. Some blogging software such as WordPress, have tools that are built-in to help create and maintain a blogroll.
Syndication
Web syndication, in relation to blogging, is a type of syndication in which content from websites is accessible to many. Syndication provides a way of making web feeds available for sharing and to provide notification that content such as news or forum posts have been updated. Syndication is an effective way of adding updated information to a blogger’s website and promoting more traffic to the site.
Managing Comments:
Comments are often one of the most interesting features of blogging. The comments feature allows users to interact with other users and the blogger by leaving comments on posts. Users can also link to your blogs and recommend them to others.
